Panizza
Organbuilding

Trinity Lutheran Church of Racine, Wisconsin commissioned the Zimmer Organ Company to build and install a new pipe organ in 1981. Space was provided within the two-manual and pedal organ for an additional five stops. These were added in 1995-1996 when a committee was formed to select a builder and chose Steve Panizza to do the work.

New pipes were made in the Netherlands with suitable scales, corresponding rackboard and toeboard holes were drilled, and new sliders and stop action components were fabricated and installed.

The pedal reed was initially specified as a Stillposaune. After some thought, a more robust reed was added instead to support full organ. The pedal chests, originally built to accommodate a Stillposaune, were modified to supply the increased wind required by the larger stop. The end result was well worth the extra work.
